How We Work

When you hire Coconut Moon, you’re hiring a network of professionals. Think of us as a general contractor with a lot of in-house skills, but also with ongoing relationships with a variety of other trusted professionals. We subcontract out parts of the job as needed while we handle quality control and project management. We can offer back end coding, front end expertise, graphic design, SEO, marketing, copywriting, and more. You don’t have to search for those parts of the team, and you don’t have to worry about managing the relationships between them - we handle all of that.

With the success of your web site - and company - in mind, you can consider us part of your team. Once your web site is launched, we recommend that we meet annually, in line with your fiscal year. That way we can look ahead at your needs and goals, listen to your needs and make suggestions that will continue to improve your site.

Building a New Site - The Process

A new site project starts with discovery, looking at the client’s mission and goals in order to determine what the site needs to achieve these. We also look at the client’s audience, who they are and how the site should best serve their needs. Out of this comes the creation of a site map and list of content that will need to be developed. Special needs and/or features are discussed, and a roadmap and timeline are created.

In the first phase of design, we commonly do three initial design "roughs" for the client to review. Based on those designs and how well they meet the goals, the client chooses a direction to move forward with. We take the preferred direction and refine it, integrating it throughout the site to sub-pages types and unique pages as needed, creating a cohesive brand look and feel for the client. 

Upon the client's final approval of the design, the production phase of the website begins. This follows the site map set up in the initial phase and includes forms, links, basic search engine optimization and content provided by the client, along with any special features.
